Freelance interim manager, business analyst, system designer, system developer, trainer. Also AS400 specialist (RPGLE, SQLRPG and SQLRPGLE), DB400, SQL, CL. Query400 and AS400 database implementation |
|
After finishing the locally highly esteemed VOLMAC Top Training RPG programmer’s course of 3 months in 1980 I started working as a programmer. From there on and after finishing a lot of relevant courses I became a systems-analyst, functional designer and finally business-analyst. I have 30 years of experience designing and developing computerised information systems. As a business analyst I regularly act as technical project leader in various projects and have also been an interim manager with various software-houses and computer departments. I also have years of experience giving commercial courses for the AS400 and Jackson Structured Programming, business analysis, system development and database design techniques. In short: I can be contracted to model the business flows and produce the functional specs (as Data Flow Diagrams for activities and Bachman diagrams for the relevant data model) which will be used for the technical design of the final products, the programs and databases. And if the system has to be build in RPG, I can do that too. |

Centerparcs Rotterdam |
business analyst |
Centerparcs started to experience database performance problems and I was asked to look into this. As the technical database has been developed continuously over the past 20 years bottom up/build on, I started with the extraction of the logical data model pictured as a Bachman entity diagram. I needed two 4-hour sessions with people from the business, and a white board, to create the perfect model that could support any imaginable Centerparcs transaction. In the next phase I will be comparing the physical database with the theoretical model to look for any possible improvements in the way data is stored and accessed |

May 2003 - October 2003 |
VGZ Health Insurance in |
business analyst |
VGZ were going to move their administration from their own main frame to a completely new ORACLE application. VGZ did not want a conversion from old to new but decided to process their business concurrently on both systems during a transition period. Old customers would still be processed in the old system while new customers would be registered and processed in the new one. Eventually the old system would die. I was asked to analyse the case and to make a functional design for an application that routes the incoming bills to the right system. This is very complicated as bills come from different directions like Internet, on paper and on diskette/tape. Bills can be handed in by the client himself or the supplier of the service (doctor, hospital, pharmacy etc) for the customer. Suppliers usually hand in bathes of bills while a batch can have clients from the old or the new system at random. |
